Animatronic Owl Talons

Machine Shop created an anatomically accurate animatronic rig of the lower part of an Owl for this commercial, for use in close-up shot of an Owl picking up a mobile phone in its talons, where the use of a real owl was not practical.

The rig, which was flocked with real feathers to look exactly like the real thing, featured a realistic gripping action, which was operated with hand-levers.
