Ashmolean
In November 2009 Machine Shop completed the installation of a range of exciting new interactive exhibits at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. With thirty-nine new galleries in total, the new project is the biggest redevelopment the collection has undergone in the last three hundred years.
Machine Shop contributed non-digital interactives to the ‘Money’, ‘European History’, ‘Writing’, ‘Textiles’ and ‘Conservation’ Galleries; featuring exhibits that include a hands-on weaving demonstration that teaches visitors the basics of fabric construction; An exhibit demonstrating a principles of writing; and a fully practical Shove Ha'Penny game.
Machine Shop interactive designers worked closely with curators and experts from the museum to ensure each item was relevant and correct. In addition to designing and engineering the physical exhibits, Machine Shop also designed and produced the graphic elements that support them.
