Pakpoom Silaphan - plane
Machine Shop were asked to help create a paper aeroplane for Pakpoom Silaphan to be included as a centrepiece to Scream Gallery's presence at the London Art Fair. Of course there was a catch - the plane was to be free standing pointing skyward, printed on one side, and 7ft tall.
The solution we produced uses a complex lamination process to create a composite aluminium sheet of only 1.2mm thickness. The sheet was carefully painted in a flat matt super flexible paint mixed specifically for this job. The print was jetted directly onto the paint surface and the plane was carefully folded by hand. A heavy base has been added for additional safety in public spaces.
The Identified Flying Object can be viewed until 22nd Feb at the London Art Fair. Further information:www.screamlondon.com
