Vita Zaman Tower

This piece, conceived by Vita Zaman, features a cast concrete sculpture with a mirrored construction beneath it. Inside of the cast concrete 'chimney' there is a smoke machine which is remote controlled and gives the impression that steam is rising from the chimney.

In order to cast concrete in the rather experimental way that was required to produce the piece we first had to construct a full size polystyrene model. This model was then used as a template to build a reinforced wooden mould with a hollow core to keep weight down and allow the installation of the smoke machine.

The resulting cast sculpture was one hundred percent accurate but also incredibly heavy, as such it had to be engineered it internally so that it could be winched into place.
